The odds of onlineroulette are more favorable towards players compared to other table games. Games of chance rely on the same statistical probability with every spin of the wheel. This consistency is key to ensuring that you are placing informed bets.

Online Roulette Odds

Roulette training isn’t difficult, but the number of bets to think about can make your head spin like the wheel. Once you understand the basics of the game and the types of bets, you’re ready to play.

There are quite a few reasons why roulette statistically offers a higher return to players than other table games. Let’s take a more in-depth look at the game of roulette.

Roulette Basics

  • Roulette Odds Explained Even though there are 37/38 pockets on a roulette wheel (depending on whether you play European or American roulette), odds are calculated based on 35 pockets. That is the maximum payout, secured by winning a straight up bet. Naturally, this means that the house always has an edge.
  • Understanding the Odds of Online Roulette. Having a thorough understanding of the odds is just as important as knowing how to place bets at the table. A combination of both is the key to success. If you're looking to learn more about the odds of roulette bets and how to apply that knowledge to your game, then you're in the right place.

Remember to stay realistic about the long odds on this popular game of chance. Approach roulette with the sober realization that, with a house advantage of 5.26 percent on the American wheel, roulette is among the worst bets in a casino. Despite the odds, you can still use some simple strategies to stretch your roulette.

If you’re wondering how to make the most of your gambling experience, roulette is a game enjoyed worldwide. There are different variants of the game, so you must always notice the type you are playing when you start your roulette training.

European, American, and French roulette have slightly different rules and odds. But each variant follows the same procedure.

  • Players place bets by laying chips on corresponding numbers or bets
  • The croupier spins the wheel and lightly tosses the ball into action
  • The winning number is revealed when the ball rests on a block

The Differences In Variants

The European and French roulette wheels have 37 sections, divided in alternating red and black colors with the numbers 1 through 36 and a green 0 block.

The American roulette wheel features 38 sections. In addition to the previous numbers, this variant also has a green 00 block. The 00 block affects the odds of winning because it influences the number of possible wins.

Inside And Outside Bets

It’s recommended that players beginning their roulette training should focus on inside bets until they are comfortable with the game. These bets are placed on the inside of the playing table in several combinations.

  • Straight – a bet placed on a single number
  • Split – a bet placed on two side-by-side numbers
  • Street – a bet placed on three numbers in a row
  • Corner – a bet placed on four adjacent numbers
  • Basket- a bet placed on 00, 0, 1, 2, and 3 together
  • Line- a bet placed on all numbers in two rows

Outside bets are placed on the boxes outside the numbers on the table. They include even/odds, red/black, and dozens. These bets cover an extensive amount of numbers in a single wager. Odds of winning are increased, but the payout is barely there.

Roulette Odds And Payouts

The odds are different for each variant because of the 00 block’s inclusion in the American version. The American version features an RTP of 94.74%, while the European and French types have an RTP of 97.3%.

As you can see in the chart below, the addition of that extra block on the wheel makes a big difference in the odds. Let’s take a look at the differences between the odds of the different variants.

Beating The Odds

While you can’t change the odds of an individual result, you can do things that will improve your overall odds. Placing outside bets, like a Street (three numbers in the same row) or a Corner (4 adjacent numbers), gives players more of an opportunity to land a winning number.

The downside of betting more numbers is that it reduces your payout. For example, a single winning number pays out 35:1, whereas a Corner bet only pays out 8:1. For some players, the difference in payout isn’t an issue, as they mainly want to win.

Roulette vs. Blackjack

When playing other casino games like blackjack, getting a winning hand depends on the cards played out to the other players and the dealer. However, with roulette, your odds remain the same every single spin.

In blackjack, you are only betting that the sum of your cards will be closer to (or exactly) 21 to beat the dealer. There isn’t much leeway because you are stuck with whichever cards are dealt to you.

Roulette allows you to choose combinations of numbers and increase your chances of winning. Other players at the same table have zero effect on your bet’s outcome, as their gameplay doesn’t impact your choices or odds.

Roulette vs. Other Table Games

While the player’s return varies depending on the variant of any game you are playing, generally, software providers use the same RTP across the board. Blackjack Perfect Pairs usually has an RTP of 95.90%, whether produced by Evolution Gaming or NetEnt.

Other table games with lower RTP’s than roulette include 3 Card Poker, with an RTP of 91.44%, Dragon Tiger has an RTP of 96.72%, and Ultimate Texas Hold ’em has a return to player of 96.50%.

Compared to roulette’s European and French versions, it’s evident that roulette bestows higher returns to players compared to other table games.

Conclusion

Hopefully, roulette training doesn’t seem so hard now. Once you figure out the basic bets and combine them to maximize your odds, it’s a straightforward game.

If you use strategy and make informed bets on the roulette table, you can take advantage of roulette’s higher RTPs. Switching up your bets and using a combination of various types of bets will increase your chances of winning.

Roulette Odds Explained

Let’s start by explaining the types of bets you can have on a roulette table.

Roulette Color Odds

There are two main types/groups of bets that you can have on a roulete table.

  • Inside bets
  • Outside bets

Inside bets refer to the bets on the numbers that are in the roulette wheel. This could be a single number or a combination of numbers from 2 to 6 in total.

Outside bets refer to any bets that are outtside the numbers board like red or black, Colum, Dozen, Odd or Even etc.

Depending on the type of roulette wheel you chose to play at i.e. European/French or American Roulette, the odds will change slightly. This is because American Roulette has an extra pocket with a 00.

Here is how it works: The player doesn’t put any chips on the table but they just announce their call bet. For example, a high roller that is also known to the land based casino can just announce a 10K bet on a number without actually putting any chiops on the table. This is of course limited to specific players that are regulars to the casino and have proved they can afford the Announced bets they palce.

These bets are not allowed in the UK at any land based casino.

But this terminology has been used for online roulette for years now in order to describe the fixed combination of bets on a roulette table.

We can find these fixed combinations on European or French roulette and this is why there two different names for them depending on the table.
