DVR to Serve 300 Individuals Per Month from Priority for Services Category 2 Waiting List
DVR now has resources to initiate services to 300 individuals per month from the Priority for Services Category 2 list. Services are initiated to individuals on the waiting list for services based on the date they applied for services with DVR. Each month, DVR initiates services to the 300 individuals with the earliest application dates (who have been waiting longest).
When DVR does not have adequate financial resource or staff capacity to serve all eligible individuals, it must establish a waiting list for services. Waiting list rules are established by the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) under a provision called “Order of Selection for Services” (34 CFR 361.36). These rules require that DVR serve individuals with the most significant disabilities as a priority.
Currently, all individuals with the most significant disabilities (Priority for Services Category 1) are served with no waiting. There is a waiting list for Individuals with significant disabilities (Priority for Services Category 2).
DVR reevaluates its service delivery capacity annually, or more often if circumstances change, to ensure it continues to serve effectively the greatest number of eligible individuals possible.
While DVR remains under Order of Selection, individuals determined eligible in priority category 1 continue to receive services.
Priority category 1 | Open continuously (no waiting) |
---|---|
Priority category 2 | Effective Jan. 4, applications with a start date of March 19, 2019, or earlier, will be released. |
Priority category 3 | Closed |
Priority category 4 | Closed |
Priority category 5 | Closed |
*Please visit the DVR website regularly to keep informed of the priority category 2 status. Updates will be posted at the beginning of each month.*
